Duplicate Shares

Replace lost, stolen or destroyed share certificates

A missing share certificate does not mean a lost holding. We complete the affidavit, indemnity, public notice and registrar formalities to have a duplicate issued.

Duplicate Shares

If a physical share certificate is lost, misplaced in a house move, damaged or stolen, the company can issue a duplicate — but only after a prescribed sequence: an FIR or police complaint, a notarised affidavit and indemnity bond, a public notice in newspapers, and registrar verification.

Finvora manages every step, including the newspaper advertisement and the surety requirements that trip most applicants up, and then dematerialises the duplicate so the holding becomes tradable.

Why clients choose Finvora for this

Complete legal formalities

FIR, affidavit, indemnity bond and surety documentation drafted and executed correctly first time.

Public notice handling

We place the advertisement in the newspapers the registrar accepts and retain proof of publication.

Registrar liaison

Direct follow-up with the RTA until the duplicate certificate is dispatched.

Demat conversion

The duplicate is converted to electronic form so you can actually sell it.

Frequently asked questions

Most registrars insist on it for certificates above a threshold value. It protects you as much as the company, because it puts the loss on record.

Typically three to six months, largely driven by the mandatory notice period and registrar verification.
